The year is nearing its end, and I focus on gratitude at every end of the year. I am so glad that today’s writing prompt focuses on appreciation and gratitude.
First and foremost, we need to understand what gratitude means.
Gratitude, to me, is to be thankful for all that I have and ready to share my kindness with the world. I wouldn’t do it as a tit for tat, but more to pass the good deed forward.
I never expect anything back, nor am I hoping for a thank you. My father always told me that if you are going to do something nice for someone, make sure you want to do it. Never expect a favor in return but if someone wants to return the good deed, always stay humble.
Tell them, “thank you.”
What Am I Grateful For In 2022
My health and well-being are top-notch. I was thankful for a scare back in May that made me think about my personal health choices.
I had to take a step back and evaluate myself.
I was gaining weight that I had never seen before. After twenty-nine years, I was smoking, but I did not want to.
I knew I had to make some changes, so I am thankful for having the willpower to give up smoking, and now I am working on getting back into shape. It is not for anyone else. It is for myself.
Not only has a new weight made me sluggish, but I also am not as active as I used to be. I would become tired and sleepy all hours of the day. I know it is the weight because I do not eat junk. I eat pretty clean. No sugar. No additives. Most of the time, I barely season my food.
These are things that I want to do for myself because I love life. Has my life always been great? No. That does not mean I should give up on myself.
Being sheltered is not a good thing as it affects your mental health. Life is full of chaos and struggle but that is part of living. Without these life lesson and experiences, you are not living.
My advice for everyone is to live a little. Do not be afraid to make mistakes. Once you understand what mistakes are, you can learn to plan how to avoid these mistakes or know why they happen.
Personal growth comes with learning your strengths and weaknesses. Mistakes identify these things.
So what is your definition of gratitude? What are you grateful for as we end 2022? If you would like to share, leave it down below. I’d love to hear from you.
